The Adviser presides at the 44th Annual General Meeting of the Institute of Blind

Chandigarh, 27th March, 2019: Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, U.T Chandigarh-cum-Ex-Officio President of the "Society for the Care of the Blind" today presided over the 44th Annual General Body Meeting of the members of the society held at the Institute of Blind, sector-26 Chandigarh.

At the onset, the Adviser was welcomed by the Institute's School Band. This was followed by a welcome address by Maj Gen Rajendra Nath, PVSM (Retd.), Senior Vice President of the society. During his address, Maj Nath shared a brief introduction of the institute, along with the salient features of the Annual Report for the year 2017-2018, highlighting the activities and achievements of the institute in the past year. 

Sh. Parida addressing the gathering said, “When we visit any institute, usually there are lots of demands, grievances & suggestions from the members. However, this is the first time in a meeting that there has been all praises and the members feel they are self sufficient.” Congratulating the members of the society, the Adviser said that the society is doing an exemplary work by not just spending the donations economically to provide facilities to these special children, but also saving enough for their future. He further appreciated the high standards achieved by the society in the upkeep of the Campus and accolades won by the children in academic and sports. Sh. Parida concluded by saying, “Let us join hands in helping the “Society for the Care of the Blind” attain more landmarks over the coming years.”

Among others present during the meeting were Sh. B.L. Sharma, IAS, Secretary Social Welfare & Women & Child Development, Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Chandigarh, Sh. Harish Nayar, IAS, Special Secretary Finance, Smt. Ruchi Singh, HCS, Director Social Welfare and members of the "Society for the Care of the Blind".

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
