District Election Officer reviews election preparedness in the constituency of Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 9th April, 2019: A review meeting was held today under the chairmanship of District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Mandip Singh Brar with the Nodal Officers to assess the election preparedness for Lok Sabha Elections 2019 in Chandigarh.

During the meeting, officials discussed key issues pertaining to intensive hands-on procedural training of presiding and polling officials, polling station arrangements, static surveillance teams, flying squads, reserve teams, strengthening of manpower, procedure for formation of polling parties, status of grievance redressal through C-Vigil App, EVM management system, setting up for RO cell for nominations, PwD registration App for disabled persons, MCC violations, fulfillment of official requirements of observers, printing of ballot papers, expenditure monitoring, SVEEP activities and Media Certification and Monitoring Committee. 

The meeting was attended Sh. Sachin Rana, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Arjun Sharma, SDM(E),  Sh. Jagjit Singh, Deputy CEO, Sh. Uma Shankar Gupta, Director Transport, Sh. Rakesh Kumar Popli, Director Hospitality (Nodal Officer for Observers), Sh. Virat, Registering & Licensing Authority (Nodal officer for Help-line and complaints redressal), Smt. Radhika Singh, Director, Chandigarh Museum & Art Gallery (Nodal Officer for SVEEP), Sh. Sudhanshu Gautam, Director Public Relations and officers from NIC, election department and Finance & Planning.

To assist the voters, a helpline number 1950 is also functional. With this toll free number, voters can get an easy solution to their election related queries.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
