Meeting held with IT companies to maximize SVEEP campaign


Chandigarh, 12th April, 2019: A meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner cum Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Sh. Mandip Singh Brar with representatives of IT & Telecom sector to discuss activities that can be initiated by them under the SVEEP programme to maximize electoral participation.

Inputs were given by each company representative on how they can play a role in motivating their employees to register as new voters and be a part of Lok Sabha Elections 2019 by voting on 19 May, 2019. Some suggestions included promoting voter literacy through posters, Badges, stickers and other merchandise along with voting taglines to be incorporated in company newsletters and mails, promotional messages, campaigns on social media pages, organizing electoral awareness camps and activating mobile vans that demonstrate the working of electronic voting machines (EVMs) and voter verifiable paper audit trails (VVPATs). 

The representatives were informed about SVEEP programme and how it can create a huge impact in motivating people to become voters & participate in the upcoming elections. It was also shared that in the coming days, a voter registration and awareness camp will be organized at the EDC building in IT Park, Chandigarh to facilitate New Voter Registration and electoral participation in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2019. In order to increase the reach of the SVEEP (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation) programme in the city, awareness has been created among different segments of the society like, medical institutions, hotel industry, banks and IT sectors.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
