Chandigarh, 15th
April, 2019: A Training Program of Sector Officers was
organized today by the Election Department under the chairmanship of Chief
Electoral Officer, Sh. Ajoy Kumar Sinha at Government Museum & Art Gallery,
sector-10, Chandigarh.
Sector officer
is the official responsible for 10-12 polling stations. He is specifically
responsible for his polling location, vulnerability mapping, voters served by
the polling locations under him and election management. He is supported by
polling officers at polling stations and he reports to the Returning officer.
Hence, the sector officer has an important role to play in the electoral
process.
During the
programme, a presentation was given, highlighting the guidelines framed by the
Election Commission of India regarding the role & responsibility of Sector
Officers during the Elections.
On the occasion,
Chief Electoral Officer also addressed the gathering, wherein it was emphasised
that Sector officers should visit their respective booths immediately and
complete the vulnerability report within time. They should be completely aware
about their catchment area and make a transportation plan immediately. It was
also emphasized that Sector officers should have in-depth knowledge about
Presiding Officers handbook and relevant instructions from the Election
Commission of India.
The queries and
concerns shared by the officials were also addressed by the officers from
Election Department during the programme.
