Voter Awareness Programme organized under SVEEP programme at Government Museum & Art Gallery

Chandigarh, 15th May, 2019: To maximize voter participation on 19 May in Chandigarh, a Voter Awareness Programme was organized today by Election Department under SVEEP Programme at Government Museum and Art Gallery, Chandigarh. The Chief Guest during the occasion was Smt. Monimala Phokan Borthakur, IAS, General Observer for Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency.

The programme saw active participation from children of various Government Schools who participated in the programme to spread the good word of voting. The programme commenced with Rangoli & Poster making competition, wherein students of various schools showcased their talent via beautiful rangolis & posters that had messages of voting. There were a plethora of activities and creative work which were on display by the students, which ranged from beautifully made bookmarks, to colourfully painted faces and artistically made posters with catchy slogans. An all girl band, a nukkad naatak, articulately delivered speeches and a performance on boli’s specially made for encouraging citizens to vote were the other highlights.

The girls from Govt. Model High School, Dhanas presented a thought-provoking puppet show that highlighted how the vote of each person brings a huge difference in the country’s democracy. Boys from Govt. Model Sr. Secondary School, Sector-35, Chandigarh performed a Mime on the “Vision for Future Empowerment” that emphasized on the active participation of each segment of the society in the electoral process. A dance performance was delivered by girls from GSSS, Manimajra Town on a song titled ‘Hamara Yeh Sujhav Hai’, which was specially composed and sung by teachers of the Manimajra Town School to spread awareness about the right to vote among students and public. The programme concluded with Giddha performance by students of Govt. Model Sr. Secondary School, MHC Manimajra, Chandigarh and a speech on a citizen's role in voting during elections by students of Government Model Senior Secondary School–Sector 8, Chandigarh. The posters made by the children will be on display at the Government Museum and Art Gallery, Sector 10, for the next couple of days and open to all visitors. 

Those present during the event were Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, IAS, District Election Officer, Nodal Officers SVEEP, Smt. Navjot Kaur and Smt. Radhika Singh, and officials of SVEEP programme.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
