Chandigarh, 3rd July
2019: A meeting
was held today in Punjab Raj Bhawan to discuss future plan for developing
Sardar Beant Singh Memorial Complex. It was decided that the
existing memorial structure and the landscaping area including Samadhi will be
improved by UT Administration to make the venue more vibrant and popular for
visitors.
A decision was taken to develop available spare land of 09 acres
into a modern cultural hub. The entire complex will be named as
“Sardar Beant Singh India International Center”. The development
cost will be borne equally by Punjab Government and UT
Administration. The Center will have facilities for conferences,
workshops, cultural presentations, eateries, media centre, library facilities
and accommodation. The Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT will
constitute a steering Committee to develop the project on the lines of India
International Centre which is functioning successfully in Delhi. The
Centre will be open for membership of eminent citizens and corporate
houses. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister, Punjab, Chief
Secretary, Punjab, Adviser, UT and other senior officers of UT Administration
and Punjab Government.
