Deputy Commissioner U.T.-cum-President, SPCA Chandigarh visited the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

Chandigarh, 18th July 2019:   The SPCA, Chandigarh is working under the able guidance of Sh. Mandeep Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner U.T.-cum-President SPCA, Chandigarh to prevent cruelty to animals, provide help & relief to stray animals in Union Territory of Chandigarh and Surroundings. The Deputy Commissioner U.T.-cum-President, SPCA Chandigarh visited the premises of Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Sector 38 Chandigarh today.  During the said visit he saw the functioning of SPCA and visited Dog kennels, Bird centre, Laser treatment Centre and Gaushala. During this time the following animals were under treatment in the centre:-

1.       Cows – 79
2.       Horses -01
3.       Dogs- 86
4.       Cats- 02
5.       Birds- 61

He further emphasized  that awareness camps should be organized by SPCA in coordination with MC, U.T. Chandigarh to reduce menace of dogs/ dog bites cases in the City. He asked for more space to be provided for sick/injured eagles and directed to rehabilitate eagles admitted in SPCA in coordination with the Forest/ Wildlife Department, U.T. Chandigarh. He directed the staff to make more effective mechanism for the rehabilitation of healthy large/ small stray animals.

He also reviewed the progress of work undertaken in building of SPCA Chandigarh at present. He directed officials of all the Engineering Department to expedite the work and complete it at the earliest.

On this occasion Sh.Tejdeep Singh Saini, Director Animal Husbandry-cum- Vice President SPCA and Dr. Kanwarjit Singh, Joint Director, Animal Husbandry-cum- General Secretary, SPCA Chandigarh were also present.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
