DC reviews preparations for Independence Day celebrations


Chandigarh, August 8, 2019: The Deputy Commissioner, Mandip Singh Brar reviewed the arrangements for smooth celebration of 73rd Independence Day- 2019 by taking a review meeting here at with the higher officials of different departments of Chandigarh Administration.
The discussions centred around arrangements of security, parade, tableaux awardees , etc.
It was also decided that a special checking drive will be organised at different areas of the city. Close vigil will be maintained at the strategic locations like markets, bus stands and hotels.
As per the programme, the flag hoisting ceremony would take place at Parade Ground where Governor of Punjab & The Administrator, UT, Chandigarh Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore will unfurl the National flag.  After the flag hoisting, Units of the Army, Police, Home Guards, NCC, NSS, and Scout and Guides would take part in the march-past. Besides this, the cultural items on patriotic and national themes with a colourful pageantry shall be presented by the students of various  school.
 The DC also stated that it is a national celebration and an occasion of pride which calls for everyone's participation. He also gave directions for proper seating arrangements for freedom fighters, ex-soldiers and their families and senior Citizens.
