Demolition action against fresh un-authorized Constructions/Alterations)

Chandigarh, 7th August 2019:To ensure effective actions against fresh illegal/un-authorized constructions, the dedicated Enforcement Division has come into operation. The Enforcement Squad of the Chandigarh Housing Board based on inspections/complaints, identified 35 fresh un-authorized Constructions/Alterations during last five days and on the site challans have been issued in following cases:

On 07.08.2019, the Enforcement Squad undertook demolition drive in 14 cases in Secor-45 where the allottees did not stop the fresh constructions even on issuance of challan and Notice-cum-Demolition orders. In remaining cases since the allottees has stopped the further construction, they have been given three days time to remove the violations failing which the CHB will demolish the additional construction.  In case of demolition by the CHB, the demolition will be on the risk and cost of the allottee and cost of the demolition will be recovered from him.

As per the procedure decided by the CHB, in case the allottees/occupants do not stop the ongoing un-authorized/illegal constructions, the same will be demolished on very next day. However if the ongoing un-authorized /illegal construction are stopped, the allottee/occupant has three days time to remove the violations/un-authorized construction. Other on expiry of the prescribed period of three days, the Enforcement Officer shall make a fresh inspection and in case of non-removal of the violations, a demolition programme, at the risk & cost of the allottee/occupant, will be scheduled to demolish the violations. Though required pre-cautions are taken during the demolition but there is possibility that adjoining structures may get damaged and the alloteee will be responsible for such extra damage to own or adjoining units.

All the allottees are requested not to take any additional construction in CHB Flats without obtaining permission from the CHB. For this purpose a special counter No.4 has been provided at ‘C’ Block of the CHB office at Jan Marg, Sector-9D.

The Enforcement Squad is making daily inspections in all the sectors to identify fresh violations/alternations and effective actions will be taken in each of such case. As informed earlier, a mechanism of information from the general public through whattsapp message/ telephone call has been provided on phone number: 6284646446.Name of the person making complaint about fresh illegal/un-authorized constructions will not be revealed so that general public participate in better way with CHB against these action.

Co-Operation of citizens is solicited in the efforts of the Chandigarh Housing Board to avoid un-toward incidents and various civic issues because of such violations. Mutual co-operation is required to maintain the city beautiful.
