Chandigarh, August 14, 2019 : Education Department,
Chandigarh Administration organized a cultural bonanza on the eve of
Independence Day, today at the Tagore Theatre, Sector 18. The
cultural evening was organized in remembrance of heroes who laid their lives
for independence struggle of our Country. Shri. Manoj Parida Adviser to the
Administrator, UT Chandigarh was the Chief Guest and Shri. B. L. Sharma,
Education Secretary, Chandigarh Administration was the Guest of Honour.
After the welcome address by Sh. Rubinderjit Singh Brar, DSE, UT Chandigarh, The colorful programme started off with Vandana presented by the students of DAV model School Sector 15. An action song was sung by the students of Manav Mangal School, Sector-21. A group song was sung by the students of Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School Sector-16, Classical Dance was performed by the students of Delhi Public School, Sector-40, Qawali was performed by the students of Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Sector- 38W. Instrumental Items was also performed by Students of St. John’s High School Sector 26. Vibrant Punjabi dance was performed by the students of GGMSS School Sector- 20B.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Parida said that “it is the foremost duty of the citizen of the nation to value the contribution of the ones who laid down their lives for freedom. He further stated that we should teach our students to be free from the bias of caste, colour, religion and freedom from pollution, freedom from discrimination.

In the end National Anthem was sung, Cultural programme was attended by all the
officers of Chandigarh Administration.
