Chandigarh,  August , 2019:   “ It’s time to End TB and make Chandigarh TB Free” Said  Dr. G. Dewan, Mission Director-NHM  Cum-Director Health Services while inaugurating, ACSM workshop (Advocacy Communication Social Mobilization) at Auditorium, SIHFW, GMSH-16, Chandigarh. He further said, its time to generate awareness  and end stigma attached with TB by using all the means of  communication. It has been possible to control the spread of TB with planned and sustained efforts of Health Department.
ACSM workshop started after appreciated Cure MDR-TB & TB patients who not only completed their treatment but also educate masses about symptoms and  treatment of TB .
 On this occasion, Rotary  Mid Town provided Nutritional Supplement to MDR-TB and TB/HIV Co-infected patients. Many members of Rotary Mid Town participated in the workshop. Awareness regarding “Pura Course, Pakka IIaj’  of TB was generated among TB patients.  TB/MDR TB  patients  were asked to share  their experiences from treatment to cure from TB by DOTS/DOTS Plus Treatment. In order to ascertain their difficulties if any in seeking the treatment from Health facilities.
 DHS, urged  upon the programme Managers, stakeholders, NGO’s , Private Practitioners to concentrate to vulnerable areas and  intensify the campaign to educate the people to get diagnosed and take treatment  as early as possible which is available free of cost at their door step.  This is the only way to break the chain of infection.
 Govt. has provided a Mobile TB diagnostic Van fitted with sophisticated equipment for diagnosing TB & MDR-TB in slum areas.
Dr. Abha Sarwal, STO Chandigarh  reviewed the performance of RNTCP Programme and said that Health Deptt. has been able to contain the spread of TB with sustained efforts to eliminate the disease from the soil of city beautiful.  She told everybody to join hands together to eliminate the TB from Chandigarh.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. 'X’ houses will be covered in the coming days too to track the unimmunized children and give them polio drops. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
