The Adviser meets Officers of Government of Punjab and Haryana to discuss issues of Tricity Transportation & Urban Planning

Chandigarh, 9th August 2019: A high level meeting was held today after three years on issues of Tricity Transportation & Urban Planning under the chairmanship of Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator with the Principal Secretary (Transport), Punjab, Secretary (Local Government) Punjab, Town Planners of Punjab, Haryana and officers from GMADA, HUDA, HSVP, HHRTC, Haryana.

The tri-city issues which are to be dealt at the regional level with participation of State of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh were discussed at length - Tri-city urban Planning & Transport, Mass Rapid Transport System, Agreement with States, and Holistic Planning.

The main focus of the regional mobility plan among other systems i.e. Bus System, Public Bike Sharing (PBS) and E-Rickshaws (first / last mile connectivity) was the Mass Rapid Transport System. The Tri-city authorities deliberated upon finalizing upon the planning of MRTS. It was also proposed that a common transport corporation (Greater Chandigarh Transport Corporation) shall be created after identifying the feasibility of all the Governments.

Chandigarh Administration prepared the Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) which was undertaken by RITES, in year 2009. The last Reciprocal Transport Agreement was done in the year 2008 between U.T., Chandigarh and State of Punjab, and the new draft agreement will be done shortly. The officials State of Haryana have also shown positive interest in engaging in the Reciprocal Transport Agreement. The State Transport Commissioner, Punjab, the Additional Transport Commissioner, Haryana and the Additional Secretary Transport, Chandigarh Administration has also been appointed as Nodal Officer for this purpose by the respective States.

The proposal of preparing a holistic plan for regional mobility was also shared keeping in view all the aspects of Urban Planning, Transport, Engineering feasibility and the common policy denominator. Divulging at the major concern of traffic in the city, Chandigarh Administration has requested both the states to address the issues at the interstate level.  Status of inner & outer ring road as part of the notified Regional Plan was also updated for expeditious implementation which mainly lies between Punjab & Haryana.

For seamless connectivity of the region, Chandigarh Administration is working on PR-4,    PR-5 roads in UT area. It was also discussed that a futuristic vision document needs to be drawn by administrative mechanism addressing the needs and aspirations of all the three Administrations. Further, areas should be identified and documented where there is a need for coordinated planning and development and working groups can be constituted on various issues. In addition to this, issues of new dumping ground, water supply and storm water drainage were also discussed among the officials.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. E auction of various commercial, residential and industrial sites to begin in Chandigarh

7th January 2019: Chandigarh Administration is about to begin the e auction process of various commercial, residential and industrial sites in Chandigarh. 10 residential sites on freehold basis,13 commercial sites on leasehold basis and 1 industrial site on leasehold basis are proposed to be e auctioned. The auction will be made public on 9th January 2019 at 9:00 AM and the documents can be submitted/EMD can be paid from 9th january till 23rd January 2019. Document/EMD approvals will be given from 24th January till 30th January. In addition to this the Estate Department will create a help desk at Estate Office Chandigarh on the above dates to create digital signatures of the applicants.
