Adviser holds meeting to make Chandigarh Plastic Free



Chandigarh, 9th September 2019: A meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Adviser to the Administrator, Sh. Manoj Parida to make Chandigarh plastic free.

Senior officials of all the allied departments attended the meeting to participate in this massive drive that has begun on the national level. Hon’ble Prime Minister appealed to all the citizens to make India free from single use of plastic.As a part of 150th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi, a state level citizen participation will be encouraged to begin Swachhta hi Seva plastic free India campaign.

All the departments have shown keen interest in joining hands to participate and extend their support in making Chandigarh plastic free. Serious steps will be taken to create awareness among the residents of the city to stop the use of single use plastic for a safe and healthy environment.

The activities will be carried out in 3 phases
1. Phase 1- from 11 September to 1st October - preparation and awareness generation
2. Phase 2- 2 october 2019- Shramdaan as mass movement
3. Phase 3- 3-27 October 2019- Recycle, disposal of collected plastic waste
Markets, areas where single use plastic is used in various forms will be targeted at the initial level and sensitization will be carried out at a large scale. Officials of major departments and institutions like PGIMER, PEC have also raised some concerns and given impressive solutions to deal with this issue

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
