Chandigarh POSHAN Mahotsav- Administrator honors officials with State Awards, Launched Anaemia Free Chandigarh Campaign and Poshan Toll Free Number



Chandigarh 6th September, 2019: The Department of Social Welfare Women and Child Development has always shown a great zeal when it comes about serving the society. To make it a milestone a State level function Chandigarh POSHAN Mahotsav was organized by Department of Social Welfare in Convergence with Line Department at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh. Hon’ble Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh and Governor of Punjab were the Chief Guest and Sh. Manoj Kumar Parida, Adviser to the Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, was the Guest of Honour at the function.
The function started with National Anthem by the Specially-Abled Children of ASHA Kiran, Sector-46 Chandigarh. Secretary Social Welfare welcomed the participants and briefed that this year, during  POSHAN Maah, special emphasis will be to promote exclusively breastfeeding, Complementary Feeding, Antenatal and Postnatal Care, Dietary Diversity of Mothers & Children, Anaemia Prevention, Sanitation and Hygiene, Diarrhoea Management.  He also briefed that from 1st September to 05th September, 2019 (during first 5 days of POSHAN Maah) total 6847 activities have already been carried out by all the department of U.T. Chandigarh.
The Administrator launched the Mission - Anemia free Chandigarh. For this, a 6x6x6 strategy i.e. 6 beneficiaries, 6 interventions and 6 institutional services will be used. Special drive of T3 Campaign will be done i.e. Test, Treat and Talk by using digital haemoglobinometers. Apart from this, the Administrator also launched an exclusive website for uploading the success stories under POSHAN Abhiyaan by all the departments of UT Chandigarh to inspire the general public on the themes of POSHAN.
The Administrator made an important announcement today under POSHAN Abhiyaan as step towards curbing malnutrition, additional food items i.e. egg, banana and milk over and above the SNP will be provided to all the beneficiaries in all the 450 Anganwadis. He launched this initiative by giving a basket of PAUSHTIK Aahaar having egg, banana and milk to all the CDPOs.
The Administrator honoured the officials of allied departments with State Awards for their outstanding contribution in Poshan Abhiyaan, that has got recognition for Social Welfare Department, Chandigarh Administration at National level. Due to their contribution and support, the Government of India has honoured Chandigarh Administration with National Awards.
A Toll free POSHAN Helpline Number1800-1800-2244 was launched for pregnant/lactating women, children and adolescent girls of UT Chandigarh. This Helpline will ensure timely home visits by Anganwadi workers/ANMs for extending Anganwadi Services at the door steps of the beneficiaries. The resident of U.T., Chandigarh can book home visits and call for any queries on POSHAN Helpline.
Beautiful Rangolis were prepared by the AWWs depicting 5 POSHAN SUTRAs (Themes of POSHAN) i.e. “First 1000 Days of the Child, Anemia, Diarrhoea, Hand Washing & Sanitation, Poshtik Aahar (wholesome Meal with diet diversity)”. Some other highlights of the event were exhibition on Homemade Low Cost Nutritious Recipes by Anganwadi Workers and Students of Home Science College and Students of Chandigarh Hotel Management, “Thank You Anganwadi Didi”video especially to express gratitude to Anganwadi Workers, Nukkad Natak about nutritional values for mother and child, first mother breastfeed by students of Home Science College, and POSHAN Walk by the little kids wearing dresses of different fruits and vegetables by Department of School Education.
Sh. B.L. Sharma, Secretary Social Welfare, Sh. Ajay Kumar Singla, Secretary Transport, Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner,  Sh. S.K. Jain, Joint Director Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sh. Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director School Education, Sh. Rakesh Kumar Popli, Director Hospitality, Ms. Radhika Singh, Director Museum and other Senior Officers of the line departments also graced the occasion.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
