Environment Departments ‘Say No to Single Use Plastic Campaign’ going strong in the city through Street Plays



 Chandigarh, September 17: The street plays to spread the message of ‘Say NO to Single Use Plastic’, by Department of Environment, Chandigarh Administration are getting good response in the city. Today around 500 people enthusiastically watched the artists hired by the Department at Colony No. 4 and Manimajra in Chandigarh.

Giving information about the initiative Mr. Debendra Dalai, Director, Department of Environment said that as part of the Chandigarh Administrations’ mass awareness campaign against the use of plastic under the theme “Plastic Mukt Bharat”, Department of Environment throughout the month of September plans to organize street plays in different parts of the city, so that more and more people can be involved in the initiative. Great response has been witnessed from all parts of society; be it young students of various Eco Clubs in the city, the environmental societies actively engaging youngsters in Colleges, the RWA’s and traders etc.

Through the street plays, people are made aware to discard use of all single use plastic products like polythene bags, plastic cups, plates, small bottles, straws and certain types of sachets, unnecessary packing etc. in line with Government Policy.
