“ Kuposhan mult ho har parivar, Jab har Ghar  apnaye POSHAN vyavhar”


2 September 2019, Chandigarh: “POSHAN Maah” has already embarked with full enthusiasm in UT Chandigarh. 2nd Day of POSHAN Maah was celebrated with full devotion and spirit with celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi. Series of activities are undertaken in the Anganwadi Centres  to sensitize the citizens, enhance their participation and to associate them with the objective of eliminating malnutrition.
 At the onset of 2ndDay of POSHAN Maah,  KalashYatra in urban slums at twilight  were carried out where the 150 plus number of local people and AWW participated in the event to generate awareness among the family and the community.  

The Jaggo, playing on the puns calling out people to “WAKE UP” to the call of nutrition.Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated with full enthusiasm in all the 450 Anganwadi Centres. 

  “Innovative Mehandi Competition” was organised on theme of Anaemia at Dharamshala Sector 24 C, near S. D. Public School in which around 50 adolescent girls and ladies participated in the competition.  Winners  were awarded with Gifts. 
In another event, lectures were given by Dr. H.C Gupta Retired Officer, Command Hospital and Dr. Sonia, RBSK at Bapudham Anganwadi centre on prevention of diarrhoea at Anganwadi Centre, Bapudham. 

Lectures on Nutrition and Health  were also imparted  by Medical Officers at Mauli Village in Anganwari Centre of  Sector 30, Chandigarh in coordination with ICDS & Health Department Chandigarh.  Approximately 40  beneficiaries comprising of AWW, AWH, Pregnant ladies, Nursing adolescent girls participated . Doctor explained the beneficiaries about Anaemia causes, Consequences & Prevention. Mr. Harpal Singh from  Food and Nutrition Board  also gave lecture on Prevention of Anaemia and Healthy Iron Rich Food & Diet .

Lectures on Diarrhoea Prevention were also given  by the  doctors at the Anganawadi Centres of Vikas Nagar, Mauli Colony  Indira Colony, Manimajra Town, Kishangarh and Manimajra.After the session ,ORS packets were distributed to all.
A Slogan writing competition on Diarrhoea prevention was also organised at Anganwadi Building  of Ramdarbar, where children actively participated and spread the message on  the importance Health and Hygiene , Right Nutrition, Clean and Safe water and Hand Washing Technique.

At the end of the 2nd Day of POSHAN Maah , to combat malnutrition in UT Chandigarh,  Anganwadi Workers  also conducted Home Visits in high spirit , with the messages  on  “ Har Ghar poshan vayvhar”   and  ensure participation of  masses during POSHAN Maah.
