Chandigarh,
September 16, 2019: 76822 children were immunized in two days of Sub National
Immunization Round (SNID) Polio September 2019 which was scheduled in U.T.
Chandigarh on 15th and 16th September, 2019.
The
difference between National Immunization Day (NID) and Sub National
Immunization Day (SNID) is that the NID is a three days campaign where day one
is dedicated for booth activity and rest two days are dedicated for House – to
– House activity while the SNID is a two days House – to – House activity which
is being conducted to focus on High Risk areas/ vulnerable areas only.
In the
Sub National Immunization Round (SNID), approx.80 Supervisors monitored the
activity for which 602 teams (consisting of 2 members in a team) of vaccinators
were deployed for House – to – House visits. Teams are fully geared up to
vaccinate all the children in 0-5 Years of age group in High Risk Areas along
with the children on the roads, streets etc.
The
monitoring was done under the supervision of Dr. G. Dewan, Director Health
& Family Welfare cum Mission Director – NHM and other officials.
Teams
visited the vulnerable areas like Khuda Lahora, Khuda Jassu, Sarangpur,
Resettlement Colony Dhanas, Kaimbwala, Maloya, Daddumajra, Madrasi Colony,
Indira Colony, Bapudham, Mauli Village, Vikas Nagar, Manimajra, Colony no 4,
Faidan, Hallomajra, Ramdarbar, Attawa, Palsora, Behlana, Raipur Khurd, Kajheri,
Kishangarh, Dariya, Tin colony, Janta Colony, Bhagwanpura, Citco, Shastri Nagar
and all the construction sites to immunize the kids with pulse polio drops.
“TAARE
ZAMEEN PAR-A NIGHT VIGIL”, was initiated in January, 2018 NID Pulse Polio Round
by the Health Department to cover those children which are accompanied by the
parents during the day and come to halt at the various odd points of the
city.
To carry
out this activity, 5 teams were deputed from 8 pm to 11 pm on September 15th
and Approximate 231 no of children had been immunized in the night hours during
“TAARE ZAMEEN PAR”- A NIGHT VIGIL activity in different parts of the city on
15th September, 2019.
To
maintain the polio free status with the 100% polio immunization, the Health
Department appeals all residents of the city to co-operate and get all children
in the age group 0- 5 years immunized against Polio during this two day SNID
Campaign.
