‘Plastic ka time up’ Campaign at Government Home Science College


Chandigarh,24th October 2019:The Environment Society, Harita, of Government Home Science College today organized ‘Plastic Free Chandigarh Campaign’ to create awareness about the ill-effects of the use of plastics. The students highlighted the toxic chemicals that leach out of plastic and harmful effects of its exposure to human health.

In sync with the National/ Chandigarh Administration initiative on ban on one time use plastic, student volunteers sensitized the people of the better alternatives than plastic that can be used in our day to day lives.

The occasion was also marked by the poster making and slogan writing competitions in which more than 100 students participated. The campaign was sponsored by State Bank of India, Sector-10, Chandigarh. The Regional Manager SBI Mr. Rajesh Gupta was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Mr Gupta also planted a sapling of Gulmohar tree on the occasion.

The occasion also saw the Environment Society of the college organize Anti- Cracker Campaign before Diwali to make students aware of noise pollution caused by fire crackers. The volunteers also made an effort to highlight health hazards and ill-effects of breathing in the polluted air, caused especially due to fireworks. The Volunteers of environment society also took oath to pledge to protect our environment by avoiding the use of fire crackers on this Diwali.

The Principal of the College, Prof. Sudha Katyal, appreciated the students for their efforts in creating awareness amongst the masses and further informed the students about the profound and long lasting negative impact on the environment which cumulatively leads to acute health problems.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. E auction of various commercial, residential and industrial sites to begin in Chandigarh

7th January 2019: Chandigarh Administration is about to begin the e auction process of various commercial, residential and industrial sites in Chandigarh. 10 residential sites on freehold basis,13 commercial sites on leasehold basis and 1 industrial site on leasehold basis are proposed to be e auctioned. The auction will be made public on 9th January 2019 at 9:00 AM and the documents can be submitted/EMD can be paid from 9th january till 23rd January 2019. Document/EMD approvals will be given from 24th January till 30th January. In addition to this the Estate Department will create a help desk at Estate Office Chandigarh on the above dates to create digital signatures of the applicants.
