Chandigarh, 24th October 2019: The DBT Scheme for
foodgrains has been implemented from the month of September, 2015 in UT
Chandigarh and Territory became the first UT/State to implement such scheme in
the country. Under this scheme, the food subsidy in the
form of cash is being transferred directly into Aadhar seeded bank accounts of
the eligible households/ beneficiaries based on their entitlement for
foodgrains under the NFSA and the beneficiaries are free to purchase foodgrains
of their choice and from any place. The main aim of this Direct Benefit
Transfer scheme is to bring transparency and terminate any kind of pilferage
from distribution of food grains by crediting subsidies into bank accounts of
the beneficiaries and give freedom to the beneficiaries to purchase foodgrains
from the open market as per choice.
The subsidy amount for the month of October 2019 has
been released to the registered households through their Aadhar seeded bank
accounts, as per the entitlements i.e.

The subsidy rates are fixed on the
basis of Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Wheat & Rice by the Government of
India and revised time to time.

Upto October, 2019, a total of 65,754 Priority
Households (PH) having 2,84,319 units and 165 Antodya Anna Yojna (AAY)
Households having 705 units are registered & availing benefits of food
subsidy under the scheme.
Under National Food Security Act, special emphasis has been given
to women empowerment. In Chandigarh, 97%
of registered households have women as Head of Households and left out 3% cases
are those in which no woman of 18 years or above of age, in the family. To
increase acceptability of the scheme and proper utilization of cash transfer
for purchase of foodgrains, the female head of the family was targeted and
empowered through this scheme.
The
registered households can check the bank
account in which their subsidy amount
has been transferred on the departmental website www.chdfood.gov.in>Transparency
Portal>Check Aadhar/Bank linking Status.
The
beneficiaries can also dial toll free
no.1800-180-2068, helpline no. 1967 or Consumer Helpline No. 1800-180-2079
for any queries. The beneficiaries may also contact the office situated in the
basement of Registering & Licensing Authority (RLA), Sector-17, U. T., Chandigarh
for redressal of their grievances.SMS is being delivered on the registered
mobile numbers of the beneficiaries as and when the subsidy is transferred. The
beneficiaries can also check the date of release of subsidy amount on the
departmental website i.e. www.chdfood.gov.in
For
the facilitation of the beneficiaries, the department is going to start online
enrolment under the DBT Scheme, under which any eligible beneficiary could
apply under the scheme from his residence also. The service has been developed
by the NIC and is under testing phase which will be completed & started
very shortly.
Beneficiaries
are requested to update their mobile numbers with the department if any change.The beneficiaries are also advised to
intimate the department immediately in case of:-
1.
Any increase in annual family income beyond Rs.
60,000 in the case of families covered under AAY Households and Rs. 1,50,000/-
in the case of families covered under Priority Households
2.
Any change in the family size
(Addition/Deletion/Death of member)
3.
Any change in Address/Mobile No./Bank Account
4.
Migration to other States/UTs
If, at
any stage, any ineligible beneficiary is found availing the food subsidy,
strict legal action shall be initiated.
