Wildlife Week activities from 2nd October by Forest and Wildlife, UT, Chandigarh


Chandigarh, 3rd October 2019: The celebration of Wildlife Week, 2019 is done every year throughout the country in the first week of October. This year also, Department of Forest and Wildlife, UT, Chandigarh is organizing different Wildlife activities starting from 2nd October, 2019 coinciding with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at different locations in UT Chandigarh.

In this series, Department of Forests & Wildlife has prepared Special Postal Cover on “Indian Grey Hornbill – The State Bird of UT Chandigarh” in collaboration with Department of Posts.    

Sh.Manoj Parida,Adviser to the Administrator, Chandigarh released Special Postal Cover on “Indian Grey Hornbill” at Paryavaran Bhawan, Chandigarh today in the presence of Shri Anil Kumar, IPoS, Chief Post Master General, Punjab.

The Adviser informed that these events are the part of protection and conservation of wildlife to sensitize the masses. Sh.Debendra Dalai, IFS, CCF also informed that Wildlife Week is being celebrated in UT Chandigarh from 2nd to 8th October, 2019 by organizing different activities such as Photography Exhibition, Wildlife Rescue awareness  in villages, on the spot Inter School Painting/Drawing Competitions, Bicycle Rally, Showing of Short Film Competitions on Air Pollution and Single Use Plastic ban.

Sh.T.C.Nautiyal, CF, Dr.Abdul Qayum, IFS, DCF and other officials of Posts Department and Forest & Wildlife Department, UT Chandigarh were also present on this occasion.

Chandigarh, 18 th  December 2018:  The website of Department of Sports, UT Chandigarh  http://www.sportsdeptt.chd. gov.in  has been launched today  by Hon’ble Governor Punjab & Administrator, U.T, Chandigarh, Shri.
