47th State Level Science Mathematics and Environment Exhibition for Children - 2019


Chandigarh,27th  November 2019:The 47th State Level Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition for Children -2019 organized today by SCERT, Sector -32, UT Chandigarh in collaboration with NCERT, New Delhi was inaugurated by Sh. B.L Sharma, IAS Secretary Education, Chandigarh Administration at 10:00 am.

Sh. B. L. Sharma interacted with the students and appreciated the efforts put in by the students and teachers. He motivated the students to carry on innovating and experimenting so that they can contribute towards the upliftment of society. The Director, SCERT, Dr. Surender Singh Dahiya congratulated the students and teachers for displaying their innovative ideas through models. He announced that all the participants in this exhibition are prize winners as each model will get some prize money.

The Exhibition was held to popularize Science amongst children, teachers and general public. It is designed to inculcate the scientific temperament amongst children and to enable them to analyze their everyday experiences to understand the linkages between local and global issues.

The theme of the Exhibition is “Science and Technology for Sustainable Development” and the subthemes are:

Sustainable Agricultural Practices, Cleanliness and Health,
Resource Management,
Industrial Development
Future Transport and Communication
Educational Games and Mathematical Modelling.

A total of 135 models of 66 schools are participating in the final level which will be held from 27th November to 30th November, 2019.

A one day seminar for popularizing science will also be organized on 28th November, 2019 in SCERT, Sector 32, Chandigarh. The topic for the seminar will be “Periodic Table of Elements”.

The Prize Distribution Function will be held on 30th November, 2019 at 11:30 am in which cash prizes amounting to Rs. 5100/-, Rs. 3100/-, Rs. 2100/- for first, second & third prize respectively in each subtheme shall be given to the prize winners of the Exhibition and an amount of Rs.500/- as consolation prize will be given to all the participants.
 State Level Exhibition of Photos and Posters under National Population Education Project was also inaugurated by Sh. B.L Sharma, IAS Secretary Education, Chandigarh Administration. The prize winning posters from Govt. schools of UT Chandigarh and the selected models on themes of Population Education are also at display in the exhibition.

 An Essay writing competition will be organized for students from classes 6th to 10th on 28th November, 2019 in which more than 300 students will be participating.
 The exhibition will be open for visitors 27th to 30th November, 2019 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.
