5th State level Kala Utsav begins


Chandigarh, 19 November,2019.Chandigarh is celebrating the fifth State Level Kala Utsav -2019  which began today. It would be held till 22nd November 2019 at Bhavan Vidyalaya Sector 27,Chandigarh.

In the cultural extravaganza, the Government /Government Aided/Private Schools are participating. In all, participants in different Art Forms in the category of Male & Female i.e. Music Vocal (33 participants), Music Instrumental (41 participants), Dance (37 participants) and Painting (58 participants) would be performing.

The State level function was inaugurated by the Education Secretary, Mr.B.L. Sharma. All the participants participated with full enthusiasm and vigour.The first event of the State Level Function was Vocal Song in which 14 Male And 16 Female participated. The Judges for the event were Dr. Simmi R. Singh, Head Music Department MCM DAV College Sector 36, Chandigarh, Mr. Sunil Professional Composers Ex Government College Mohali, Mr. Sanjeev Kapoor Music Composer Performer .The Judges critically evaluated each and every performance as per the guidelines  specified by MHRD/NCERT and gave their decision.

On the basis of the judgment, Surjeet Singh from GMSSS 40-B secured the 1st Position; Jaskaran Singh from GMSSS 35 secured the 2nd while Kunwarveer Singh from GMSSS 37 B secured the 3rd Position in Male Category.

In Female Category, Manjinder ofGMSSS 35 secured the 1st Position; Binita of GMSSS 23 (NYC) secured the 2nd Position, Simranjeet kaur of Banyan Tree, Sector- 48 secured the 3rd Position under Solo Music Vocal competition.

It is worth nothing that the Kala Utsav is an initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) to promote arts in Education by nurturing and showcasing the artistic talents of school students at the secondary stage in the country. It is regularly organized every year which helps students to explore, understand and display their artistic talents which further gives them the opportunity to understand and celebrate cultural diversity at School, Cluster, State and National level.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
