65th NATIONAL SCHOOL GAMES OFF TO A GRAND START


Chandigarh, 18th November,2019 : The 65th National School Games in Baseball U-19 (Boys & Girls) commenced with the Opening Ceremony being conducted at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 37 B, Chandigarh today.

The Games scheduled from 18.11.2019 to 23.11.2019 are being hosted by the Education Department, Chandigarh under the aegis of School Games Federation of India. Around 460 baseball players from 15 states across the nation are participating in the Games.

The Chief Guest of the occasion Mr.Tejdeep Singh Saini, PCS, Director Sports, Chandigarh Administration was welcomed by the senior officials of the Education Department. A salute was given by the school band of GMSSS -33 girls. After the formal welcome the SGFI Flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest. Then the 15 teams marched imposingly on the beat of the drum. The participating players were administered the oath of participating in the true spirit of the games. The Chief Guest then declared the games open. The students of GMSSS, Sector 8 presented an impressive yoga show.

The Chief Guest, Mr Tejdeep Singh Saini, PCS, in his ceremonial address motivated the players to play with sportsman spirit. He stressed on the importance of discipline and hard work. He emphasised on the harmful effects of drugs and said that there are no shortcuts in life.

Mrs. Anujit Kaur, the Organising Secretary cum DEO, UT, Chandigarh presented the vote of thanks. The Opening Ceremony culminated with the singing of the National Anthem by the choir of GMSSS, Sector 37 b, Chandigarh.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
