Administrator Launches Two Mobile Anganwadi Vans


Chandigarh. 28th November, 2019:The Department of Social Welfare with the auspicious hands of Sh. V.P Badnore, Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh launched 02 Mobile Anganwadi Van for serving “POSHAN ON WHEELS” to the children of construction workers as they tend to get consistently left out of developmental initiatives and to provide the benefits of ICDS schemes to the uncovered population.  The main aim of these vans is to cover the uncovered marginalized population on the construction sites as, because of their unique migrant nature.

The Department of Social Welfare Women and Child Development has always shown a great zeal when it comes about serving the society. The POSHAN Abhiyaan envisages earmarking funds for the development and implementation of innovations and pilots particularly showing the convergent nutrition action to achieve one or more desirable nutritional result.

The Administrator of Chandigarh flagged off the Mobile Vans, embarking from Raj Bhawan, Sector 6 Chandigarh to serve Children of constructions sites. The event was also graced by Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS, Advisor, Sh. B.L Sharma, Secretary Social Welfare and Director Social Welfare, Ms. Navjot Kaur and other officials of UT Chandigarh.

These mobile vans will cover the population of the construction sites of Colony No. 4 (EWS Houses), Sanjay Colony Industrial Areas, Construction Site of PGI, Police Flats in Dhanas and Construction area near Secretariat, Sector-9 Chandigarh. Total beneficiaries are approximately 415 including Children in the age group of 6 month-6 year, Pregnant Ladies, Nursing Mother and Adolescent Girls.
During the event, thr Administrator Chandigarh checked the food which will be provided to the Children’s. Earlier, there was one mobile van, which served the food to the children’s of Construction Area PGIMER. Now, the addition of these two will cover the areas which were left out so that the whole Chandigarh will become POSHTIK Chandigarh and combat the malnutrition in the city beautiful.
