Installation of new Solar Power Plant at GMCH Sec.32 to reduce electricity bill by approximately Rs.36 lakhs annually


Chandigarh, 8th November 2019: Smt.Kirron Kher, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Chandigarh inaugurated the 400 kWp SPV Power Plant at Govt. Medical College & Hospital (Block A, B, C & D), Sector-32, Chandigarh in the presence of Sh.Manoj Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh. 

This Plant has been installed on the rooftop of Govt. Medical College & Hospital,Sec.32 (Block A, B, C & D) with a total cost of Rs.1.99 Crore and executed by CREST (Chandigarh Renewable Science & Technology Promotion Society). This plant will generate approximately 5,20,000 units of electricity annually and shall help the UT Chandigarh marching towards 100% Renewable Energy Powered.

Smt Kirron Kher appreciated the efforts taken by UT Administration in developing Chandigarh as Model Solar City. She appreciated the lead taken by CREST in installing 32 MWp Solar Rooftop Plants on Govt Buildings as well as Private buildings including residential houses. 

The installation of new solar power plant will reduce electricity bill of GMCH-32 by approximately Rs.36 lakhs annually.

The function was attended by Sh.Debendra Dalai, IFS, Director (Science & Tech. & Renewable Energy) & CEO, CREST, UT Chandigarh, Dr.B.S.Chavan, Director & Principal, GMCH-32, Mr.Saurav Arora, Joint Director,GMCH-32, Dr.Ravi Gupta, Medical Supdt, GMCH,  Dr. Abdul Qayum, IFS, Addl. CEO, CREST and others.
