Chandigarh,17 November,2019:  Society for Promotion of IT in Chandigarh (SPIC) under the aegis of IT Department of Chandigarh is hosting a half day event  Centre for Humane Artificial Intelligence (ChAI) @SPIC” on 20th November 2019. This event will be held at the EDC Building  located in  Chandigarh IT Park, Kishangarh. This event is being organized by SPIC in sync with the mandate of Niti Aayog to establish the National Program on Artificial Intelligence (AI), with a view to guide the research and development in new and emerging technologies.

NITI Aayog has come up with a strategy paper for crafting the national strategy for Artificial Intelligence(AI). This strategy document is premised on the proposition that India, given its strengths and characteristics, has the potential to position itself among leaders on the global AI map  with a unique brand of #  Artificial Intelligence (AI) for All.

#AI for All will aim at enhancing and empowering human capabilities to address the challenges of access, affordability, shortage and inconsistency of skilled expertise; effective implementation of AI initiatives to evolve scalable solutions for emerging economies; and endeavors to tackle some of the global challenges from AIs perspective be it application, research, development, technology, or responsible AI. #AIforAll will focus on harnessing collaborations and partnerships, and aspires to ensure prosperity for all. Thus, #AIforAll means technology leadership in AI for achieving the greater good.

NITI Aayog has decided to focus on five sectors that are envisioned to benefit the most from AI in solving societal needs:

Healthcare: increased access and affordability of quality healthcare,

Agriculture: enhanced farmers income, increased farm productivity and reduction of wastage, Education: improved access and quality of education,

Smart Cities and Infrastructure: efficient and connectivity for the burgeoning urban population, and

Smart Mobility and Transportation: smarter and safer modes of transportation and address traffic and congestion problems.

AI is being seen as a technology with the potential to transform the economy.  The highlight of the event would be discussion and outcome of the Government of India policy on National Strategy on Artificial Intelligence titled  #AI for All as it is focused on leveraging AI for inclusive growth in line with the Government policy.

At the event, experts from industry and academia will be sharing their knowledge on the latest trends in AI and ML around the globe. Mr Naresh Batra, CEO SFivei, a Silicon Valley, USA based software solutions company will deliver a talk on How AI is Driving  the Next Wave of  Digital  Transformation. Mr.Kapil Khanna, VP & Chief Architect for AI at a leading local IT firm will speak on application of AI and ML in business. Mr Abhishek Sharma, a US returned software engineer, who runs a AI based startup in the city would be sharing his experiences on working with thes technologies.

SPIC is hosting this event with a view to initiate discussion by inviting experts from academia, industry and government to come together. The Plan is to make this a regular event by providing a forum for exchange of ideas and knowledge sharing on emerging technology.
