Celebrations of Chandigarh Carnival 2019 began with a Bang


Chandigarh, 20th December,2019:The City’s annual festival—Chandigarh Carnival today got underway with a bang. The three-day carnival is being held at Open Ground opposite Museum & Art Gallery, Sector 10, Chandigarh and would be held till 22nd December, 2019. 

Knowing the tourism potential of these events, the Ministry of Tourism has also included Chandigarh Carnival in its calendar. The celebrations will provide an ample opportunity to visitors and citizens of tricity to participate in variety of events and activities, which would promote Chandigarh as a Happening City and as a hub of tourism and culture in this region.

The Adviser to the Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh, Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS inaugurated the carnival along with Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, IAS Principal Secretary Home-cum-Tourism, Chandigarh Administration. The Carnival Parade having Tableau/floats prepared by the different departments of the Chandigarh Administration especially Government College of Arts, Chandigarh, was the centre of attention on the occasion.

The Chief Guest was welcomed by the ITBP women band and was greeted by a trained she Dog Heena.

The high point of the inaugural day was an impressive cultural show by Punjab Police Cultural Troupe which totally mesmerized the audiences and included Devotional Prayers, Traditional folk songs and folk tales of Punjab, Qawwali presentation, Humorous Skit (Bhand Mirassi), Jhoomar folk dance, Sufiana Qalaam, Acrobatic Tricks (Bazian) of Punjab, Depiction of village fair of Punjab, Singing item pertaining to 'Satrangi Peeng', Malwai Giddha and 'Sare Jahan Se Achcha'. 

The first day reached its zenith with the presentation of stunts on bikes by a team of the ITBP.

The first day saw an impressive turnout and the people enjoyed every bit of the carnival, be it the joy rides in the amusement park, float rides by the students of College of Arts, mouth savouring delicacies at the food court wherein CIHM, AIHM, CITCO and various others displayed their stalls. 

The impressive display of live arts workshop attracted many during the event. In addition to this, the residents enjoyed every bit at the various stall that were displayed by private and Government Exhibitors.

This three day Chandigarh Carnival is a perfect place for those who want to enjoy unlimited shopping, food, music, rides etc.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
