Chandigarh State Legal Services Authority organizes Mega Awareness Camp more than 3200 persons visited and 1800 persons empowered


Chandigarh.21st December 2019: Under the aegis of National Legal Service Authority, New Delhi, and under the leadership of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ravi Shanker Jha, the Chief Justice, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Patron-in-Chief, State Legal Services Authority, U.T. Chandigarh, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Jaswant Singh, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman, State Legal Services Authority, U.T. Chandigarh, a Legal Services Camp was organized in Government Model High School II, Village MAloya, Chandigarh. This is the Eleventh Legal Services Camp organized by State Legal Services Authority, UT Chandigarh till date.  

Mr. Mahavir Singh, ADJ-cum-Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority Chandigarh said that the Authority aims at making the services offered by the Legal Services Authority more approachable, accessible and people friendly. He thanked the people of Village Maloya for coming in such large numbers to attend the camp.

The Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority, U.T. Chandigarh further informed that the effort of State Legal Services has been to link up with the people of the community through mass awareness programs in schools, colleges, communities, and also though its various outreach activities carried out by its panel lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers. He informed that through this camp citizens in vast numbers were connected to various social welfare schemes of the Government.

Ms. Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson, CCPCR also graced the occasion and addressed the gathering, appreciating the efforts of the State Legal Services Authority for providing services of so many departments and NGO’s at one venue.

A total of 3200 people attended the Camp and availed of various services.   The Member Secretray spoke about the importance of such community initiatives for ensuring the slogan of "Access to Justice for All" that is the motto of the Legal Services Authority.

 The camp saw participation from UIDAI (Aadhaar), Social Welfare Department, Education department, Labour department, Health department, Banks, Child Helpline, Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Cyber Crime Unit, Anti Human Trafficking Unit and Traffic Unit of Chandigarh Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Telecom companies, Chandigarh State Aids Control Society, District Child Protection Unit, Transgender Welfare Board, Bachpan Bachhao Andolan, Medical Team of PGIMER, Chandigarh and GMH Sector-16, Chandigarh participated in this camp and informed the general public about various schemes of their departments. On the spot registration and other facilities were also provided in the camp by the participating departments.
 Representatives of all the participating departments also spoke about the activities and welfare schemes of their departments and also showed PPTs and documentaries relating to their departments’ work. Ms. Sushma, Constable of Chandigarh Traffic Police and an International Yoga performer gave a demonstration of yoga. The Swayam team of Chandigarh Police gave a performance on self-defence techniques for motivating young girls to take self defence training.  Mx. Kajal Mangalmukhi spoke about the functioning of the Transgender Welfare Board and motivated the gathering to accept transgenders as members of society.
 A free health camp was also organized with the help of specialist doctors from GMSH, Sector-16, Chandigarh in which Child Specialist, Eye specialist, Gynaecologist, ENT and general physician examined children and other persons visiting the camp and also distributed free medicines. Grewal Eye Institute, Chandigarh also provided free eye checkup facility in this camp.   

​Students of St Joseph, lead by Ms. Anita presented a skit about Fundamental Duties and made public aware about their rights.

 Aadhaar Cards applications of 420 persons were received and Aadhar Card of 130 persons were made of those who had submitted their documents during the precamp survey, 220 people applied for new/corrected Voter I.D Cards, 120 persons applied for various pension/loan schemes of Social Welfare Department and 30 persons were given approval letters for the pension. Further, more than 850  persons visited the stalls giving information about the functioning of Anti Human Trafficking Unit, Cyber Crime Cell, Child Helpline, DCPU, Chandigarh Social Welfare Board, DAY - NULM (National Urban Livelihood Mission), Social Welfare Department, Education Department, Labour Department, DART, Banks, Bachpan Bachao Aandolan and Telecom companies.  About 90 new accounts were opened by the banks.  More than 40 job cards and 20 Fixed Deposits for Rs. 25,000 each were distributed on birth of girl child to the labourers by the Labour Department and around 80 persons applied for new job cards.  Around 1200 persons were benefitted from the free health camp which included Eye, ENT, Gynae, Ortho and Generl Medical Check up was included.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. E auction of various commercial, residential and industrial sites to begin in Chandigarh

7th January 2019: Chandigarh Administration is about to begin the e auction process of various commercial, residential and industrial sites in Chandigarh. 10 residential sites on freehold basis,13 commercial sites on leasehold basis and 1 industrial site on leasehold basis are proposed to be e auctioned. The auction will be made public on 9th January 2019 at 9:00 AM and the documents can be submitted/EMD can be paid from 9th january till 23rd January 2019. Document/EMD approvals will be given from 24th January till 30th January. In addition to this the Estate Department will create a help desk at Estate Office Chandigarh on the above dates to create digital signatures of the applicants. Bidding will begin from 31st January (9:00 AM) till 4th February 2019 (till 4 PM)
