Administrator holds Apex Committee Meeting of Tricity


Chandigarh, 22nd January 2019: The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore held a second meeting of Apex Committee of Tricity in the presence of Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator, Smt. Keshni Anand,      Chief Secretary Haryana, Sh. Karan Avtar, Chief Secretary Punjab and other senior officials of Punjab and Haryana.

At the outset, the Administrator thanked everyone for their active participation in this Tricity meeting whose main objective is to work for the coordinated development of Chandigarh and the satellite cities in Punjab and Haryana. The Chief Secretary, Haryana expressed gratitude towards Chandigarh Administration for the additional water supply through Kajauli Waterworks.

 The Coordination Committee discussed about various Law and Order issues like the participation of both the neighbouring states in tackling the crimes committed by the interstate gangsters, snatchings and thefts in the tricity. The DGP, Chandigarh suggested the use of emergency response support system (Control Room no.112), E-beat book extension in tricity. It was decided that the three DGs will meet once in three months and three neighbouring SPs will meet once in a month for better coordination and the field officers will meet even more frequently for better coordination and cooperation.

 The issue of beggary was also highlighted wherein the DGP, Chandigarh stressed on working together for tackling this issue. It was also proposed that the security audit of public places for women safety shall be done on various safety parameters like Lighting, Openness, Visibility, Security, Public Transport and setting up of powerline for women and child safety and adopt the best practices on same lines from other states including Uttar Pradesh.

 Major concerns like Eco- Sensitive zone of Sukhna Lake, Outer Ring Road, Renaming of Airport, also came up for discussion and more information was sought on these subjects to be put up in the subsequent meetings.  It was also decided that the Committee under the Advisor to the Administrator, Chandigarh will look into and resolve the Health and Transport issues of the Tricity. The Administrator directed that this Committee should meet more frequently.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
