Celebration of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Week (20th-26th January) and National Girl Child Day (24th January)


Chandigarh, 21st January 2020: The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Week is being celebrated from 20th-26th January, 2020 to create awareness, sensitise people and engage community across the districts under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme. This event also marks the 5th Anniversary of this scheme.

As per the field Plan to celebrate various activities under BBBP Scheme for the awareness of the masses during the weeklong campaign, the Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, Chandigarh Administration has organised six sessions on "Gender Sensitisation". These talk shows have been organised at Dadu Majra Colony, Bapu Dham Colony and Ramdarbar. 

Various issues related to Gender Roles, Gender Equality and discrimination faced by women at a larger scale have been discussed with the community. Information pertaining to Women centric schemes has been disseminated to the public.  An Oath has been taken on "BETI BACHAO BETI PADHAO" theme by the community members at all the places. The lectures have been delivered by Mahila Shakti Kendra team.

Under this Celebration, the Department of Health, Chandigarh Administration has organised various activities on 19th, 20th and 21st January, 2020 to celebrate the BBBP Week. On 19th January, 2020, the Director Health Services administered vaccination in the Pulse Polio Drive at a Booth at HWC Maulijagran to the Girl Children along with Polio Drops being given to Girl Children.

A Door to Door, BBBP sticker pasting drive have been undertaken by the Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development in convergence with Department of Health in Mauli Jagran, Mauli Jagran slums, Sector 39, Colony.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. 'X’ houses will be covered in the coming days too to track the unimmunized children and give them polio drops. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
