Chandigarh, 28th January 2019: A meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Dr Bhagwan Lal Sahni, Chairman National Commission for Backward Classes, in the presence of Sh. Acharya Thalloju, Dr Sudha Yadav and Kaushalendra Singh Patel,  members NCBC and senior officials of Chandigarh Administration at UT Guest House today.

The objective of the meeting was to discuss the implementation of reservation policy for OBC’s certificates , issues relating to issuing caste certificate and issues related to welfare and social security schemes.

The Officials of Administration stated that there has been  Effective Implementation of reservations for Other Backward Classes in services of the Chandigarh Administration in Direct Recruitment in Group A, B and C.

It was also shared that, Chandigarh has constituted a Permanent Body (PB) under the Chairmanship of Secretary Social Welfare for the purpose of entertaining, examining and recommending upon request for inclusion and complaints of over-inclusion and under-inclusion in the State list of OBCs meant for Chandigarh.

Under the issues related to Creamy layer while issuing OBC caste certificate, it was shared that Certificates are being issued on the bonafide and migration basis as per the Government instructions issued from time to time.

Under the third agenda of implementation of welfare schemes and social security schemes it was stated that Pre-Matric and Post Matric scholarships are being implemented by the Education Department, Chandigarh Administration  Under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme. Loans are granted to the persons belonging to Backward Communities. It was also shared that the Corporation is providing free training to its target group candidates, and stipend @Rs. 2000/- per month is provided to the candidates having annual family income below the Poverty Line.

The officials of the National Commission for Backward Classes applauded the effective implementation of various social schemes in the city.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
