Adviser presides over meeting of Heritage Items Protection Cell


Chandigarh, 5th March 2020: The first meeting of the reconstituted Heritage Item Protection Cell was held today under the Chairmanship of Sh.Manoj Parida,IAS,the Adviser to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh. The purpose was to take concrete measures to identify,protect,preserve,restore and reuse the heritage items such as furniture,tables,cabinets,chairsetc and formulate action plan in this regard.

During the meeting representative of the Alliance Francaise informed that due to the efforts taken by Sh.Manoj Parida,IAS,a team of experts from France would be officially visiting Chandigarh in April 2020 to train our officials/people in matters concerning identification,preservation, protection and conservation of items having heritage value.

Shri Manoj Parida directed the officials of the administration to identify 3 to 4 places of the city wherein the heritage items could be placed. This centralised effort would aid in protection, preservation and restoration of such heritage items.

For this an expert committee be formed .These hertitage items could then be provided with some kind of official certification so that its misuse can be prevented. Use of technology could also be explored for this purpose.

Further,the Adviser to the Administrator, also said that awareness should be created at every possible level, domestically of internationally, regarding illegal auction of heritage items of Chandigarh across the globe. For this, use of socail media such as Facebook,twitter etc could also be made.

Once the heritage items are identified then, after maintaining some such items of every kind in Chandigarh, by the Chandigarh Administration,the Chandigarh Administration may also explore possibility of auctioning these items as then it would be legal and official whereby this would arrest illegal auctions and may benefit the genuine buyers. The heritage items which would be preserved would be kept in Museums in the city.

The commitee was reconstituted and the members inducted are Principal Secretary Home, Finance Secretary, Secretary Cultural Affairs, Director General of Police, Legal Remembrancer, Chief Architect, Chief Engineer, Principal Government College of Architecture, Principal Government College of Arts, Sector 10, Sh. Ajay Jagga, Advocate. Other special invitees including Registrar Punjab and Haryana High Court, Officials of institutions like Panjab University, PGIMER, Alliance Francaise etc were also present in the meeting.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. E auction of various commercial, residential and industrial sites to begin in Chandigarh

7th January 2019: Chandigarh Administration is about to begin the e auction process of various commercial, residential and industrial sites in Chandigarh. 10 residential sites on freehold basis,13 commercial sites on leasehold basis and 1 industrial site on leasehold basis are proposed to be e auctioned. The auction will be made public on 9th January 2019 at 9:00 AM and the documents can be submitted/EMD can be paid from 9th january till 23rd January 2019. Document/EMD approvals will be given from 24th January till 30th January. In addition to this the Estate Department will create a help desk at Estate Office Chandigarh on the above dates to create digital signatures of the applicants.
