“Chalo Chale Hum ek Sath, banaye ek Suposhit Samaj”


Chandigarh.12th March, 2020.The Department of Social Welfare Women and Child Development has always shown a great zeal when it comes to serving the society. The Nutrition fortnight has expanded its coverage in the Chandigarh UT  and its peripheries with the coverage of target beneficiaries as much as possible, with regards awareness and advocacy of positive behaviour changes for a healthier lifestyle. 

In the on-going activities, a 'Low Cost - High Nutrition Recipe Competition' was organised at Manimajra Indira Colony, for generating awareness among community about the nutritious recipes at a very low cost for a healthy lifestyle.

This was followed by a 'Poster Making Competition on the 5 Sutras of POSHAN' among the local beneficiaries, at Khuda Lahora village. Lectures were imparted by Doctors, ANMs and AWWs on overall nutrition and personal hygiene, making people aware about nutritional values.

Poshan Mandi was displayed at Dhanas where awareness on POSHAN was created by distributing Poshan cards to local people by Anganwadi Workers. The Poshan Pledge was also taken promising to eradicate KUPOSHAN from the nation. Anganwadi workers also urged the public to make Kitchen gardens, which will provide fresh and nutritional fruits and vegetables at their own place. 

The event ended with a 'Swachh Bharat, Swastha Bharat' themed workshop on sanitation, a convergence activity with Anganwadi workers and Swachhagrahis, where Municipal Councilor Maheshinder Singh Sidhu addressed the workshop, reiterating the importance of sanitation and hygiene, especially in such pressing times. Poshan Thalis and Sanitation kits were handed out to the ladies who take care of the city's cleanliness and health, followed by a session on Nutrition and Hand Washing. 

Poshan Pledge was taken, voicing our commitment in unison - Swach Bharat, Swasth Bharat and Sahi Poshan Desh Roshan.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. 'X’ houses will be covered in the coming days too to track the unimmunized children and give them polio drops. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
