Chandigarh.16th March,2020:POSHAN Pakhwada is being celebrated with enormous zeal & enthusiasm with a number of activities in the community at grass root level for maximizing the outreach of POSHAN objectives of Govt. of India. The main objective of POSHAN Abhiyaan is to monitor Adolescents Diet, Anaemia, Breastfeeding, First 1000 Days, Diarrhoea, Hand wash and Sanitation, POSHTIK Aahar.

However, due to outspread of Corona Virus, The Ministry of Health has issued various guidelines and instructions suggesting that Mass gathering shall be avoided as precautionary measures from Corona virus. Keeping in view, the guidelines of MoWCD and Ministry of Health the celebration of POSHAN Pakhwada is being conducted accordingly in U.T. Chandigarh, avoiding the mass gathering and maximizing the outreach the POSHAN Pakhwada by conducting more number of small initiatives/events.

As a part of on-going observance of Rastriya Poshan Pakhwada, awareness related to Personal hygiene, Good personal hygiene will help staying healthy, and build better self-awareness was the message to the community by doing home visits.

A rangoli was prepared by the Anganwadi workers at Plaza, Sector 17, UT Chandigarh wherein importance of green vegetables, fruits was demonstrated. #didiwithsign Campaign was also conducted in which anganwadi workers circulated the key messages of POSHAN PAKHWADA. God Bharai was also conducted in Sector 41 Chandigarh where workers went to the pregnant women homes and were distributed Iron rich food and vegetables.

Since the main focus of POSHAN Pakhwada is to increase Male Engagement to Improve Nutritional Outcomes, the males in the community were also targeted and knowledge regarding the same was given to them by the Anganwadi workers.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
