Chandigarh.6th March,2020: A meeting  was held under the chairmanship of Sh.V.P.Badnore, Governor of Punjab and  Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh  today to review the preparedness for tackling the novel corona virus disease.

The Chandigarh Administration has taken all measures with regard to containment measures being taken to avoid spread of said disease by setting up 24X7 helpline, dedicated ambulance and fully equipped isolation wards in all the three hospitals namely GMSH-16, GMCH-32& PGIMER.

The awareness generation is being done at all levels among the public and hospital staff with regard to personal protection and safety measures. All departments of Chandigarh Administration alongwith government/private schools are being sensitized regarding safety measures to be taken during this period. The role of social media, electronic and print media was appreciated for the spreading the awareness regarding the precautionary measures for containment of disease.

The Administrator appeals to the residents to avoid public gatherings or postpone, more so in view of ‘Holi Festival’. He further directed that the bio-metric attendance system in all government/private institutions be suspended and to adopt the manual marking of attendance till further orders. Police department was also directed to stop the usage of breath analyser being used for checking alcohol level as a containment measure in controlling the spread of disease till further orders.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
