COVID 19 WAR ROOM PRESS RELEASE

Chandigarh.22 May,2020:Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over Daily War Room meeting.  The meeting was attended by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser, UT, Chandigarh and Sh. Sanjay Beniwal, Director General of Police at Raj Bhawan. The Administrator also interacted with Sh. Arun Gupta, Principal Secretary (Home), Sh. AK Sinha, Finance Secretary, Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation and Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh,  Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Health Services and Director Principal, GMCH through Video Conferencing.

WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS

1.The Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh expressed his satisfaction about the new Sampling Centre set up in Bapu Dham Colony area.  He appealed to the local residents to avail this facility.  He also advised doctors and health staff to take proper precautions while taking samples and testing those.

2.The Administrator again advised that the Administration must focus on Bapu Dham Colony area to ensure that the spread of infection is contained.  Aggressive and intensive checking should be done, so that all cases could be detected early for medical treatment.

•Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary Health stated that arrangements have been made for separate Quarantine Centre for the residents, who want to go out of Bapu Dham Colony and stay in government Quarantine Centre due to extreme congestion in their own houses.  Adequate number of beds have been kept ready for such persons, who volunteer to stay out.

•Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation stated that the vendors are going to various sectors regularly for the sale of fruits and vegetables.  They are medically tested/checked twice a week, so that they do not become a source of infection.

•Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner stated that field officials are ensuring that the social distancing is maintained in various market places.  He also informed that 54,85,610 cooked food packets have so far been distributed among the destitutes and needy persons in various parts of the city.  The Deputy Commissioner further stated that 2,96,000 persons have downloaded Aarogya Setu Applications in UT, Chandigarh.

•Sh. AK Sinha, Finance Secretary stated that necessary arrangements have been made for transporting the stranded persons through special trains to various parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

•Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser inspected the premises of Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology, Sector 26, Chandigarh, where stranded persons have been medically screened and distributed food and tickets, before they boarded trains for their native places. Adviser further stated that necessary coordination is being made with the other states, so that the trains could be sent to other areas too.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. 'X’ houses will be covered in the coming days too to track the unimmunized children and give them polio drops. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
