Due to lockdown, some of the migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students and other persons are stranded at Chandigarh.


Chandigarh.17 May,2020: For smooth movement of these persons, the Chandigarh Administration has made elaborate arrangements to ensure comfortable and safe journey through Shramik Special Trains. Two Holding Centres have been set up at ISBT-43. At Holding Centres, the persons are medically examined and they are required to carry the medical certificate throughout the journey. At Holding Centre they were provided packed lunch packet and at Railway Station they were provided packed dinner with one litre water bottle before boarding in assigned coaches.

Today i.e. 17.05.2020, two Shramik Special Trains were sent as per following details:
a)     Train with 1296 persons at 02.00 PM for District- West Champaran, Begusrai, Barauni in (Bihar)
b)     Train with 1458 persons at 06.00 PM for District- Azamgarh (Uttar Pradesh)

Considering high temperature, Ladies with small kids, Pregnant Ladies, Handicapped Persons and Senior Citizens were accommodated in the Shramik Special Trains on priority.

The schedule of Shramik Special Trains for next two days (18.05.2020 & 19.05.2020) is as under:
a)     On 18.05.2020 at 05.00 PM for District- Amethi (Uttar Pradesh)
b)     At 19.05.2020 at 05.00 PM for District- Raibareli (Uttar Pradesh)

Here it is mentioned that movement by Special Trains has been arranged for those persons who have been stranded in Chandigarh. A list is prepared from registration made either through Helpline or website of the Chandigarh Administration. Then telephone calls are made to each of them to reach ISBT-43 for medical screening and thereafter journey through Special Train. Any person who has not received a telephone call should not come to ISBT-43. Names of the persons will be checked from the list and other persons will not be allowed.

The persons from other district are advised not to enter into Chandigarh because their journey will be arranged by District Authorities of that district only.

Co-operation of all concerned NGOs and Voluntary Organisations is also solicited to assist the Chandigarh Administration.
