Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights Meeting


Chandigarh.12th June,2020: A meeting of the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) held today. The meeting was presided over by Sh. Yashpal Garg, IAS, Chairperson CCPCR. Dr. Monica M. Singh, Ms. Pooja Punchhi and Sh. Varun Beniwal members of the Commission were present.  Ms. Navjot Kaur, PCS, Secretary CCPCR was also present in the meeting.

The Commission also deliberated on the issues arisen due to COVID and decided that:

1. Considering scarcity of labour due to migration there is need to keep a watch that Child labour is not used to meet the requirement. Surprise inspections need to be carried out in various industrial units/shops especially in the areas like Khuda Lohora, Raipur Kalan, Raipur Khurd and Daria. This exercise should be carried out jointly by the Labour Department and Social Welfare Department. The concerned department will submit their report to the commission for taking further necessary action.

2. Keeping in view the media reports, Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) will conduct an online study to assess the views of the parents regarding the Education System amidst COVID 19 Epidemic.
