COVID 19 WAR ROOM PRESS RELEASE

Chandigarh, 10th June, 2020: Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over Daily War Room meeting.  The meeting was attended by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser, UT, Chandigarh and Sh. Sanjay Beniwal, Director General of Police at Raj Bhawan. The Administrator also interacted with Sh. Arun Gupta, Principal Secretary (Home), Sh. AK Sinha, Finance Secretary, Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation and Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh,  Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Health Services and Director Principal, GMCH through Video Conferencing.

WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS

1.The Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh stated that with the opening of state borders and movement of persons through roads, trains and flights, the spread of infection could increase substantially.  He directed Principal Secretary Health, Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta to coordinate with the neighbouring states, so that a common strategy could be formed to screen the persons coming from outside into the tri-city.

2.The Administrator approved a formation of Committee under Director, PGIMER with representatives from GMCH, Sector 32 and GMSH, Sector 16 to formulate a protocol to ensure that there is no overcrowding or congestion of patients in the outdoor facilities.  The Committee should develop a mechanism, so that only referral cases are sent to PGIMER.  The Committee may also recommend how Chandigarh can be developed to emerge as an ideal medical hub for Northern Region.

•Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation stated that regular sanitization operations are going on.

•Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner stated that 3,46,586 Aarogya Setu Applications have been downloaded.

•Sh. AK Sinha, Finance Secretary stated that all efforts are being made to facilitate migrant labours and stranded persons to their native places.

•Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator stated that he would visit Wholesale Market, Sector 26 and Grain Market, Sector 39 today and will formulate a proposal for shifting, if required and feasible.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
