COVID 19 WAR ROOM PRESS RELEASE

Chandigarh.24 June,2020:Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over Daily War Room meeting.  The meeting was attended by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser, UT, Chandigarh and Sh. Sanjay Beniwal, Director General of Police at Raj Bhawan. The Administrator also interacted with Sh. Arun Gupta, Principal Secretary (Home), Sh. AK Sinha, Finance Secretary, Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation and Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh,  Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Health Services and Director Principal, GMCH through Video Conferencing.

WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS

1.         Dr. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER informed that out of 445 samples received by them yesterday, only 13 cases were found positive.  Dr. BS Chavan, Director Principal, GMCH informed that out of 92 samples received by them, only 02 were found positive.  He stated that all persons, who have returned from abroad have been tested by GMCH.

2.         The Administrator directed that all pregnant women admitted in the hospitals must be mandatorily tested for covid.

3.         Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula informed that they have 73 active cases and Deputy Commissioner, Mohali stated that they have 68 active cases.  Deputy Commissioner, UT stated that there are 92 active cases in the city.

4.         Sh. AK Sinha, Finance Secretary informed that there has been substantial revenue loss due to lockdown, particularly in collection of GST, Excise and VAT.

5.         The Administrator directed all officials to enhance vigil and to ensure that all those, who are violating social distance guidelines and other hygienic instructions should be penalized through special drive conducted by dedicated teams in different parts of the city.

6.         The Administrator directed Deputy Commissioner to ensure that all visitors from outside tri-city, who are staying in different localities are monitored for detection of symptoms.  They should not be allowed to violate the quarantine stipulations. 

7.         The Administrator directed Director General of Police to ensure that vehicles carrying registration Numbers from outstation and bringing visitors from outside are checked at the borders and their details obtained for subsequent monitoring.

8.         During the War Room Discussions, a view emerged that if there is a drastic rise in number of cases or if the residents continue to violate social distancing norms, Chandigarh could opt for weekend closure of markets or curfew on weekends, as has been done in Punjab and other states.

9.         The Administrator emphasized the importance of citizens, voluntarily following the safety guidelines, issued by health experts from time to time.  He stated that though the Administration was doing whatever best possible under the circumstances, yet the primary responsibility of following guidelines lies with the people.  All local leaders, voluntary agencies and Resident Welfare Associations should join hands to ensure that the good results received so far do not get neutralized through entry of covid positive patients from outside without proper detection or due to non-observance of social distancing norms.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
