Administrator Directs Screening of Persons Coming from Outside at the Borders

Chandigarh, 22 July 2020: Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over Daily War Room meeting.  The meeting was attended by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser, UT, Chandigarh and Sh. Sanjay Beniwal, Director General of Police at Raj Bhawan. The Administrator also interacted with Sh. Arun Gupta, Principal Secretary (Home), Sh. AK Sinha, Finance Secretary, Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation and Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh,  Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Health Services and Director Principal, GMCH through Video Conferencing.

WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS

1. Dr. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER stated that they have 80 serious covid cases.  The break-up is Chandigarh 32, Haryana 10, Punjab 30, Himachal Pradesh 03, Uttar Pradesh 02, Bihar 02 and Uttarakhand 01.  He further stated that they have tested 872 covid cases, out of which, 48 were found positive.  Among 48, 15 cases belong to Chandigarh.  He also stated that during April-June, 2020, there were 415 deaths as compared to 641, which took place during similar period last year.  Thus, as such there has been reduction of 25% in death cases.   The Administrator directed them to hold regular meetings with medical chiefs of neighbouring states and follow proper protocol. 

  Dr. BS Chavan, Director Principal, GMCH stated that they have tested 197 covid samples, out of which 26 were found positive.  Among the positive cases, 14 were from Chandigarh and others from neighbouring states.  Dr. G. Dewan, Director Health Services stated that they have conducted second round of screening in entire Manimajra.  Further, on the basis of mapping of new cases, 11 teams had started screening in Sector 45, Chandigarh.  Yesterday, 4,245 persons were screened in Sector 45, Chandigarh.  
 
  The Administrator directed doctors to do stringent screening and testing, particularly during next ten days to detect hidden cases.

2. Deputy Commissioner, Mohali stated that they have 178 active cases.  Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula stated that they have 182 active cases.  Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh stated that they have 221 positive cases.

3. Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser stated that as per advice of Affected Area Committee, there will be micro-containment zone, where 14 days perimeter control will be done, as against 28 days, as was being done earlier.

4. The proposal for weekend curfew was discussed with doctors, officers, traders associations and political leaders.  It was felt that since Mohali and Panchkula have not agreed for a tri-city closure on weekend, a fresh view on this issue will be taken in the next week.  Meanwhile, the Administrator directed that there must be strict implementation of social distancing and mask wearing in all public places.  He also directed screening of persons coming from outside at the borders and strict action against those, who violate curfew orders from 10:00 PM to 05:00 AM.

5. The Administrator appealed to Press to create awareness among the people about safety precautions to be taken by them to prevent covid infection.  He mentioned that only messages through government advertisements will not suffice.  The media must play a positive and pro-active role to create awareness among people for mask wearing and social distancing in tri-city.

6. The Administrator directed Police, Revenue and Municipal officials to have more field inspections and check whether the residents are following social distancing norms and mask wearing in markets and other public places like parks, Sukhna Lake etc.

7. The Administrator also directed Commissioner, Municipal Corporation and Deputy Commissioner to conduct surprise checks in various markets.  The Administrator warned that in any market, if major violations are found, that particular market could be closed for the safety of residents.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. E auction of various commercial, residential and industrial sites to begin in Chandigarh

7th January 2019: Chandigarh Administration is about to begin the e auction process of various commercial, residential and industrial sites in Chandigarh. 10 residential sites on freehold basis,13 commercial sites on leasehold basis and 1 industrial site on leasehold basis are proposed to be e auctioned. The auction will be made public on 9th January 2019 at 9:00 AM and the documents can be submitted/EMD can be paid from 9th january till 23rd January 2019. Document/EMD approvals will be given from 24th January till 30th January.
