COVID 19 WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS

Chandigarh, 13th July 2020: Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over Daily War Room meeting.  The meeting was attended by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser, UT, Chandigarh and Sh. Sanjay Beniwal, Director General of Police at Raj Bhawan. The Administrator also interacted with Sh. Arun Gupta, Principal Secretary (Home), Sh. AK Sinha, Finance Secretary, Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation and Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh,  Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Health Services and Director Principal, GMCH through Video Conferencing.

WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS

1.Dr. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER stated that they examined 180 covid samples of Chandigarh and neigbouring states, out of which 36 were found positive. Dr. BS Chavan, Director Principal, GMCH stated that they examined 178 covid samples, out of which 09 were found positive.  Dr. G. Dewan, Director Health Services stated that since the corona cases being detected are scattered, they are doing necessary mapping of the cases in the city, so that focused attention could be given.  He stated that today a special screening drive has been started in Manimajra.  The Administrator thanked Director, PGIMER for developing a protocol for treating both covid and non-covid patients of neighbouring states.  He directed that the coordinating group must meet every week to sort out problems regarding shifting of patients.

2.The Administrator directed doctors and health officials to enhance contact tracing and increase house-to-house screening.  He also advised them to check Aadhaar addresses, so that the location of the patients could be noted.  He sought the views of doctors regarding further restrictions to be imposed in the city.  A final decision regarding further restrictions, weekend curfew etc. will be taken on Wednesday.

3.Deputy Commissioner, Mohali stated that they have 115 active cases.  Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula stated that they have 32 active cases. 

 The Administrator directed them to have strict control on borders.  The Administrator also ordered that all vendors and police personnel working in the field should be specially screened and checked for symptoms and accordingly tested.

4.Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh informed that joint teams of SDMs, SHOs & RWAs have been constituted to monitor asymptomatic cases and report symptomatic cases, if any, in the areas, so that the cases could be detected early and medical treatment provided.  He stated that during weekend, 500 challans have been issued against the persons not wearing masks.  Further, 4,06,000 Aarogya Setu Applications have been downloaded by the residents.

5.Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation stated that they are sanitizing more areas, where new cases of covid are emerging.

6.Sh. Sanjay Beniwal, Director General of Police stated that a special campaign will be launched by audio announcements through PCR vans to make people aware of the precautions to be taken to avoid infection.  He stated that during the weekend, 31 FIRs have been registered for violation of night curfew, 39 people were arrested, 24 cars were seized and 2,500 persons were challaned by the Police for not wearing masks.

7.The Administrator directed Secretary Labour to ensure that no person, who was treated and cured of covid is denied from returning to his job in private or government sector.  He stated that such people are quiet safe, since they are not likely to contact corona again.

8.Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser stated that as per Government of India’s instructions, all social, religious, cultural and other functions are banned, except for marriage and cremation.  Gathering of people for any other event is not allowed.  Plantation drive will continue under “Van Mahotsav” without any formal official function.  He stated that Deputy Commissioner has been authorized to give specific permission in emergency cases of any gathering.  If any such event takes place without the permission of Deputy Commissioner, the police will take penal action against the defaulters.
