COVID19 WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS


Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over Daily War Room meeting.  The meeting was attended by Sh. Arun Gupta, Principal Secretary (Home) & Sh. Sanjay Beniwal, Director General of Police at Raj Bhawan. The Administrator also interacted with Sh. AK Sinha, Finance Secretary, Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation and Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh,  Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Health Services and Director Principal, GMCH through Video Conferencing.

WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS

1.Dr. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER stated that they have tested 770 covid samples, out of which 54 samples from various states were found positive.  Dr. BS Chavan, Director Principal, GMCH stated that they have tested 335 covid samples since the last video conference on 24/07/2020, out of which 34 were found positive.  Out of positive cases, 25 belong to Chandigarh and rest from other neighbouring states.  Dr. G. Dewan, Director Health Services stated that they have covered more than 10,000 persons in door-to-door survey and 10 teams have been deployed for the purpose.

2.PGIMER authorities apprised the Hon’ble Administrator about the feasibility of doing antigen testing and the ICMR protocol finalized for these testing.
 The Administrator desired that at least 1,000 such testing kits be procured by PGIMER and used primarily for OPD patients including others to validate the usefulness of these kits.

3.The Administrator desired that all facilities of Health Department should be operationalized for collection of samples of suspects.  He also directed that vulnerable population, particularly staying in GRIID, Snehalaya, Old Age Home & Blind School etc. needs to be specifically screened and Senior Citizen Associations may also be consulted for any immediate medical assistance in this tough time.

4.Deputy Commissioner, Mohali stated that they have 244 active cases.  Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula stated that they have 243 active cases.  Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh stated that they have 314 positive cases.  Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh further apprised that more than 7,500 challans for various violations have been issued to ensure compliance of the norms.  He further informed that 4,24,000 Aarogya Setu applications have been downloaded in the city.

5.Commissioner, Municipal Corporation apprised the Hon’ble Administrator that the number of sanitization teams have been increased to ensure the sanitization in view of spurt in positive cases.
The Administrator directed Commissioner, Municipal Corporation to identify the congested and other markets, where violations of social distancing norms are more evident, so that stringent regulatory measures including closing on weekend, odd-even formula etc. can be thought of for these specific areas.

6.Earlier today, the Governor of Punjab & Hon’ble Administrator of UT, Chandigarh Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore inaugurated a “COVID AWARENESS VAN” fitted with an LED screen at Punjab Raj Bhawan.  The vehicle will be used for creating awareness on public health regarding COVID-19.  Concerned over rising number of coronavirus cases in the city, the Department of Public Relations, Chandigarh Administration planned to make residents of Chandigarh aware about COVID-19 under IEC activities.  The van will make rounds sector-wise to aware people through videos.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
