COVID19 WAR ROOM DIRECTONS

Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over Daily War Room meeting.  The meeting was attended by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Arun Gupta, Principal Secretary (Home) & Sh. Sanjay Beniwal,  Director General of Police at Raj Bhawan. The Administrator also interacted with Sh. AK Sinha, Finance Secretary, Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation and Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh,  Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Health Services and Director Principal, GMCH through Video Conferencing.

WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS

1.Dr. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER stated that they have tested 733 covid samples, out of which 38 samples from various states were found positive.  Dr. BS Chavan, Director Principal, GMCH stated that they have tested 166 covid samples, out of which 22 were found positive.  Out of positive cases, 18 belong to Chandigarh, 03 of Punjab and 01 of Haryana.  Dr. G. Dewan, Director Health Services stated that they have completed door-to-door survey of entire Manimajra, covering 2,725 houses and 10,038 people.  He also stated that total screening of Sector 45 has been done, during which 14,937 people have been covered.

2.The Administrator stated that there should be second screening of Bapu Dham Colony and Raipur Kalan areas and all new cases should be properly mapped, so that their sources and contacts are properly traced. 

3.Deputy Commissioner, Mohali stated that they have 237 active cases.  Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula stated that they have 222 active cases.  Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh stated that they have 275 positive cases.

4.The Administrator suggested on the need for more vigorous testing, particularly among persons, who are coming to OPDs for treatment.  He also directed that there should be greater IEC activities to make people aware about the need to follow hygienic practices and to wear masks at all times.

5.The Administrator directed Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary Health to explore the possibility of opening a helpline, which shall be utilized by residents having symptoms/suspicion to book self-covid testing in GMSH, Sector 16, GMCH, Sector 32 & PGIMER at government’s cost. 

6.He also directed Commissioner, Municipal Corporation to explore ways and means to restrict number of people gathering in public places, such as parks, markets and Sukhna Lake.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
