ORDER UNDER SECTION 144 OF THE Cr.P.C.

OFFICE OF THE DISTRICT MAGISTRATE, U.T., CHANDIGARH

No. DM/MA/2020/ 13335                                               Dated: 01.07.2020

Whereas, vide order no. 40-3/2020-DM-1(A), dated: 24-03-2020, the Union Home Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India had issued an order under section 10(2)(1) of The Disaster Management Act, stipulating lockdown measures for containment of COVID-19 in the country.

Whereas, now the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, in continuation of that order has passed an order dated: 29.06.2020, wherein various guidelines have been issued for phased re-opening till 31.07.2020.

Whereas, various guidelines issued in the above mentioned order include directions to the local authorities to issue prohibitory orders for prohibition of movement of individuals for all non essential activities between 10:00 P.M. to 05:00 A.M.

Now, therefore, in modification of order no. DM/MA/2020/10895, dated: 31.05.2020, I, Mandip Singh Brar, District Magistrate, Union Territory, Chandigarh, in exercise of powers vested with me under section 144 of the Cr.P.C., do hereby order that there shall be prohibition of movement of individuals, for all non essential activities between 10:00 P.M. to 05:00 A.M. Any breach of this order shall invite action under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

This order shall come into force with effect from 00:00 hrs. on 01.07.2020 and shall remain in force till further orders.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
