Skilling Youth of Chandigarh in times of COVID-19 and beyond


Chandigarh, 9th July 2020:World Youth Skills Day 15th July 2020 will take place in the challenging environment of COVID-19. The pandemic and lockdown measures have led to the worldwide halt of all including the technical institutions. However, the need of skill development has increased due to slow down of economic activities and attrition in the employment. In this context, Chandigarh Skill Development Mission in collaboration with India Skills has decided to celebrate this day of Youth through digitization/online interaction mode.  In this endeavor, webinars have become the most common way of imparting skills.

Taking cue from this, Chandigarh Skill Development Mission (CSDM) has launched a series of Webinars, which started on 7th July 2020 and will continue till 15th July 2020 ie World Youth Skill Day. All the Winners and Participants of World Skill Competition 2019 have come forward to share their rich technical and personal experiences with youth of Chandigarh.

In this venture, all technical intuitions i.e. CCET (Degree Wing), PEC (deemed to be university), UIET, CIHM, AIHM, GITI, GITIW, CCET (Diploma) and GPW are supporting in organization of webinars.  On this initiative, Sh Sachin Rana IAS, Special Secretary Technical Education cum Mission Director CSDM has shared that, sharing of knowledge is essential ingredient of skill, the combination of young and experienced experts is an excellent opportunity for students to increase their skill sets. He also added that during this celebration series, 35 skill domain i.e. ITSSB, Web technology, Cloud Computing, Electronics, Mobile Robotics, Automobile Repair, Car Painting, Auto body Repair, Floristry, Hair and Beauty therapy, Fashion Technology, Virtual Merchandising, Bakery, Cooking, Restaurant Service, RAC, Electrical, Welding, CNC Turning, Water Technology e.t.c. will be covered and he hopes that more and more students will take advantage of this experience sharing. Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
