TARGET FREE APPROACH - COVID-19

Chandigarh.30 June,2020:The Area of Chandigarh is spread over 114 sq.km. and as per the Census 2011, population of Chandigarh is approx.10.54 Lakhs.

In view of COVID pandemic and the emergent situation arising due to imposed lockdown, Chandigarh remained vigilant with regard to screening and Testing by conducting door to door to survey and establishing Flu Clinics at GMSH-16,CH-22,45 and Manimajra. These Flu Clinics proved to be the backbone for screening the suspects for COVID and the same were tested on the basis of symptoms of Influenza like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI).

Guidelines issued by MoHFW, were strictly adopted by all the hospitals i.e. PGIMER, GMCH-32 and GMSH-16 with regard to testing strategy for all symptomatic cases of ILI/SARI. Further, the areas which were identified and put under Containment with perimeter control and Buffer Zone to contain spread of Infection proved beneficial.

Analytically, as per total no of positive cases reports till now, Chandigarh has reported 440 cases out of 7548 tests conducted. With this it stands as a second state with no of positive cases against no of tests done. It further proves tests are being done judiciously keeping in view the optimal utilization of resources and preservation of the same for future.
