World population Day (WPD) celebrated in the City Beautiful


Chandigarh, 10th July 2020: Health Department, UT Chandigarh is celebrating World population Day (WPD) in the city beautiful. 11th July is observed throughout the world as "World Population Day" to focus on the need for population stabilization.

The WPD is divided into two parts i.e. Mobilization Fortnight (Dampatti Sampark Pakhwada) from 27th June to 10th July and the other part is Population Fortnight (Jansankhya Sthirita Pakhwada) from 11th to 24th July. It may be called as Parivar Vikas Mela fortnight. The theme for the WPD 2020 is “आपदा में भी परिवार नियोजन की तैयारी, सक्षम राष्ट्र और परिवार की पूरी ज़िमेदारी

A series of activities are being done at health facility level by the health workers throughout Chandigarh. Family planning corners have been made at each health facility where all the methods of Family Planning i.e. the basket of choices is displayed and needful counselling done by the staff members.

Now, on 11th July each facility will carry out activities such as counselling session, Poster making by ANMs etc. Appreciation awards will be distributed to the health workers for best poster making activity which will be submitted online.
The health facility performing best under the family planning programme will also be appreciated.
All the activities are being conducted under the leadership and support of Director Health & Family Welfare cum Mission Director - National Health Mission, UT Chandigarh
