All Departments to implement DigiLocker: Chandigarh Administration issues orders

The Chandigarh, August 5, 2020: With an aim to benefit citizens and to reduce requirement of seeking physical documents from citizens for availing various public services, the Adviser to the Administrator has issued orders asking all departments and boards and corporation under Chandigarh Administration to adopt and implement DigiLocker platform. All departments shall be issuing certificates to the citizens through DigiLocker. Departments have also been asked to the accept digital documents issued by other government entities through DigiLocker.

 With the issuance of the order, documents issued on the DigiLocker platform shall be treated as at par with physical copies and accepted by all. This in line with the provisions of IT ACT 2000 and further rules issued by Ministry of Electronics and IT in 2016 and 2017 regarding Digital Locker.

DigiLocker is a flagship initiative of Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY), Govt. of India under the Digital India programme. It is a secure cloud-based platform to access the documents and certificates issued by an authority and to verify the same in a digital way, thus eliminating the use of physical documents. At present, DigiLocker has more than 4 crore registered users across the country and provides access to whooping 3.79 billion documents.

At present, certain certificates issued by DC office, Chandigarh are available through DigiLocker. Only last month, UT Administrator had launched the eChallan facility. Integration with DigiLocker has also been done whereby citizens can show Driving License and RC through DigiLocker mobile app to the traffic personnel.

Citizens can easily register on DigiLocker through mobile app or web portal and have access to key documents like Aadhaar Card, Driving License, PAN Record, EPF UAN Card and other documents of various central ministries and state governments. CBSE marksheets can also be accessed through the platform.

Department of Information Technology, which is the nodal department, has been asked to provide assistance to all departments in implementation of DigiLocker.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
