COVID19 WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS

Chandigarh.31 July,2020.Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over Daily War Room meeting.  The meeting was attended by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator at Punjab Raj Bhawan. The Administrator also interacted with Sh. Arun Gupta, Principal Secretary (Home), Sh. AK Sinha, Finance Secretary, Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation and Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Health Services and Director Principal, GMCH through Video Conferencing.

 

WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS

 

1.Dr. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER stated that they have 105 covid patients, out of which 40 belong to Chandigarh, 37 from Punjab, 16 from Haryana, 04 from Himachal Pradesh and others from different states.  He stated that they have tested 953 covid samples, out of which 54 samples were found positive.  Dr. BS Chavan, Director Principal, GMCH stated that they have tested 289 covid samples, out of which 19 were found positive. Among the positives cases, 13 belong to Chandigarh.  Dr. G. Dewan, Director Health Services stated that they have started fogging operations in Vikas Nagar, Khuda Jassu & Khuda Lahora.

 

2.Deputy Commissioner, UT stated that the drive against non-wearing of masks has been intensified.  Over 8,000 challans have been issued and nearly Rs.45.00 lakhs have been recovered from the violators.

3.The Administrator stated that all efforts should be made to detect covid infected persons early, so that timely treatment could be given.  He directed Deputy Commissioner to take the help of Volunteers, Resident Welfare Associations to detect such cases.

4.The Administrator directed Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, Director General of Police to enforce greater strictness in monitoring visitors from outside, who could be carriers of covid. 

5.Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser stated that keeping in view the increase in number of cases, three new micro-containment zones are under consideration.

6.The Administrator after detailed discussions with the medical experts, senior officers and public representatives decided to order the following restrictions in the city to contain covid infection :-

(a)Sukhna Lake will remain closed on weekends and entry of visitors will completely be banned on Saturdays and Sundays.

(b)Odd-even system will be re-introduced in selected congested markets after fresh examination by the authorized Committee, headed by Finance Secretary, UT.

(c)All market places will remain closed by 08:00 PM except for the eating establishments, which can remain open upto 09:00 PM.

(d)The existing curfew from 10:00 PM to 05:00 AM will continue.

(e)Yoga institutions and gymnasium can open only from 05/08/2020 after Standard Operating Procedure is issued by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
